Wednesday’s prep schools: Williston baseball team rallies past Cheshire
The Williston Northampton baseball team overcame a three-run deficit to defeat Cheshire 7-6 on Wednesday afternoon in Easthampton.
Mikey Thomson (run) of Northampton and Ben Sarat of Amherst each had two hits for Williston.
Ledell Robinson hit a two-run home run and scored twice, while Frank Zumbi went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.
Adam Krol came on to pitch in the third inning and finished the game to earn the victory.
Cushing 8, Williston 0 — The Wildcats (4-3) were held without a hit in the loss in Ashburnham.
Catie Laraway struck out two in a complete-game effort for Williston.
Williston 16, Suffield 3 — Karly Simpson of South Hadley scored four goals and added a pair of assists as the Wildcats cruised in Easthampton.
Kirsty Kruse and Maddie Hatch also had four tallies apiece, while Grace Simpson of South Hadley put in two goals.
Janelle Parker made seven saves in goal for Williston.
Berkshire 16, Williston 8 — Jack Shumway of South Hadley scored twice with an assist, but the Wildcats fell in Sheffield.
Nick Garafano, Colin Brown and Aidan Rai also had two goals and an assist for Williston. Conor Archbald of Williamsburg picked up an assist along with Griffin Foley.
Seth Cupak made 14 saves in the loss.
Boys track & field
Williston 98, Wilbraham & Monson 42; Northfield Mount Hermon 82, Williston 58 — Drew Thomas of Florence won the 400 as the Wildcats split a tri-meet in Easthampton.
Girls track & field
Williston 89, Wilbraham & Monson 55; Northfield Mount Hermon 82, Williston 62 — Gabby Thomas of Florence won the 100 and 400 for the Wildcats in the home tri-meet.
Rachel Rockwell took first in the 100 hurdles for Williston.
Willison 4, Loomis Chaffee 1; Williston 4, Miss Porter’s 1 — Taylor Senecal of South Hadley shot a 46 and won both her individual matches to help the Wildcats (3-3-2) to a pair of wins at Southampton Country Club.
Caitlin Berube fired a 44 to earn medalist honors for Williston, while Allie Lewis of Hatfield also won two points.
Wilbraham & Monson 216, Pomfret 217, Williston 218 — Easthampton’s Eric Yarrows carded a 40 to pace the Wildcats, who dropped a pair of matches at the Country Club of Wilbraham.
Loomis Chaffee 7, Williston 0 — The Wildcats (0-7) suffered a sweep on the road.
Suffield 6, Williston 1 — Caroline Borden of Amherst and teammate Yoonji Kim earned the only point for the Wildcats with a 6-3, 6-3 win at third doubles.
