Video issue brings to mind comment by Councilor Donald Cykowski
While city officials debate whether boards and committees should be required to video record meetings, some reflect on a comment captured on video almost one year ago.
At-Large Councilor Donald L. Cykowski said, “Where’s a Puerto Rican when we need one?” when another councilor was accidentally locked out of the room at a Dec. 7 meeting.
His quick comment passed mostly unnoticed, but when Cykowski apologized for the comment at the next meeting, 814 people visited the ECAT website to watch the video of the Dec. 7 meeting and heard the comment. The video was also included in many media reports of the incident as residents called for his resignation.
