Kayla Panek scored an unassisted goal with 2 minutes, 55 seconds remaining to break a tie and give the Belchertown girls lacrosse team a 9-8 victory Wednesday over host Amherst Regional.

Panek finished with three goals as the Orioles improved to 8-3.

Natalie Caney had two goals, while Kat Lowe, Kate Bowers (two assists) and Emma Jopson (assist) each had one tally for Belchertown, which led 6-5 at halftime.

Megan Foley had one assist and Abbey Norden made six saves in the win.

Leah Goldman and Sarah Mangels (assist) each had three goals for the Hurricanes (1-8), who never led.

Meghan Sharick had two goals and Katie Dunn made nine saves in the loss.

Boys lacrosse

Longmeadow 10, South Hadley 2 — Ryan Dickinson had a goal and an assist, but the Tigers (11-2, 5-1 Valley Wheel) suffered their first league loss at home.

Sam Duda scored once for South Hadley, while Tom Crotty picked up an assist.

Devin Hoagland made 10 saves in goal.

Cathedral 19, Holyoke Catholic 0 — Adam Mercer of Belchertown scored three goals with an assist and John Leonard of Amherst made five saves in goal as the Panthers (4-6) blanked the Gaels (1-9) in Chicopee.

Belchertown 12, St. Mary 3 — Alex Wordsworth had four goals and one assist as the Orioles (5-6) rolled at home.

Aaron Krasinkiewicz added two goals, while Austin Duhaime (one goal, three assists) and Jordan Auffrey (one, one) also had multiple-point games.

Charlie Hughes, Jacob Downs, Christian Assimus and Ben Margarian scored once each.

Travis Greeley made four saves in net.

Boys volleyball

Sabis 3, Belchertown 0 — Colter Krzcuik had eight kills, 11 digs and two assists as the Orioles (2-11) were swept at home.

Jordan Vigneault and Josh Santos each had seven kills and three digs, while Kevin Reidy had 11 assists.
