Hilltown Voices: Goshen Board of Health to discuss piggery permit for Hilltown Grazers

Goshen’s Board of Health on Monday will discuss the possibility of issuing a piggery permit to Hilltown Grazers owner Cosmo Ferrante. Hilltown Grazers is currently located at 86 Spruce Corner Rd. on a 1200-acre farm owned by siblings Timothy and Laura Barrus, who rent the land to Ferrante. In 2013, Ferrante was ordered to move his cows and pigs out of town due to complaints that the animals were repeatedly escaping their confines, damaging the property of nearby homeowners and creating accident hazards by roaming up and down Route 9.
