Hilltown Voices: Plainfield Volunteer Fire Association buys new thermal imager

The Plainfield Volunteer Fire Association has purchased a new thermal imaging camera for the Plainfield Fire Department. The new Argus Mi-Thermal Imaging Camera cost the association $9,500. The Fire Department’s previous imaging camera had been purchased with funds from a state grant that was offered to all fire departments in the state after six firefighters lost their lives battling a fire in an abandoned warehouse in Worcester in December of 1999. Because Plainfield’s imager was over 10 years old, with an unreliable battery life and aging technology, the Plainfield fire association conducted a fund drive to purchase a new unit. “The addition of this important …
