Wednesday’s high schools: Easthampton hockey shuts out Belchertown

The Easthampton hockey team earned its first win of the season Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over Belchertown at Lossone Rink in Easthampton.

The Eagles scored a pair of goals in the second and third periods to improve to 1-1-3.

Mike Grise and Tim Pfau each had a goal and two assists to power the offense.

Joe Fasoli, Rob Carmel and Will George each had one goal, while Andrew Fleming added two assists.

Matt Sarafin made 20 saves, while Alex Zadworny played well in front for the shutout.

Kyle Mikulski made 27 saves for the Orioles (0-2-1).

Girls basketball

Easthampton 51, Sci-Tech 23 — Elizabeth Whitney had 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists as the Eagles (4-1) cruised in Springfield.

Kelly Avard added eight points and 10 rebounds, while Ali Dabek chipped in with 10 points.

Sabis 62, Belchertown 38 — Marissa Kopacz had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Téa Spellacy added 13 points but the Orioles (3-1) fell at home to the undefeated Bulldogs (6-0).

Boys basketball

Turners Falls 61, Smith Vocational 44 — Jordan Castillo had 18 points with four 3-pointers but the Vikings (0-4) fell on the road.
