Jesse Crepeau, 37, of 121 North Main St., pleaded not guilty before Judge Bertha Josephson to charges of rape and abuse of a child, aggravated rape and abuse of a child and assault and battery.

Crepeau, represented by public defender Alan Rubin of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, was ordered held on the same bail set in Eastern Hampshire District Court.

According to court records, the alleged abuses involving the same child occurred between June 1, 2008, and Aug. 15, 2013, beginning when the child was about 12.

The Gazette as a matter of policy does not identify victims or alleged victims of sexual assaults.

Judge Mary Hurley ordered the application for criminal complaint in the case impounded, making further details unavailable, according to the Eastern Hampshire District Court Clerk’s office.

Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Caleb Weiner declined to comment on details.

If he posts bail, Crepeau must abide by several conditions, including having no contact with the alleged victim or any witnesses in the case, keeping the probation department abreast of his whereabouts, submitting to GPS monitoring and having no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18.

Crepeau is due back in court Jan. 30 for a pre-trial hearing.
