Tuesday’s high schools: Kevin Brasil nets winner as Hampshire blanks South Hadley in boys soccer
Last time it was Bryan Brasil. This time it was older brother Kevin Brasil.
Now both brothers have netted game winners for the Hampshire Regional boys soccer team against South Hadley this season.
On Tuesday, Kevin Brasil, a senior, converted an assist from his younger brother in the 72nd minute to lift the Raiders to a 1-0 victory over the Tigers in South Hadley.
Bryan Brasil, a junior, scored the first goal in a 2-0 victory over South Hadley on Sept. 18.
Ben Preston had seven saves for Hampshire (5-0-4, 3-0-2 Holley), while Chris Zuchowski made 12 for the Tigers (6-7-1, 0-4-1).
Agawam 2, Northampton 0 — Jon Brodeur made eight saves in net for the Blue Devils (1-11, 1-3 Moriarty) in a loss.
Smith Vocational 3, Franklin Tech 2 — Jeffrey Goralski (goal, assist) led the way and the Vikings (3-6-2, 3-2-0 Tri-County North) won on the road.
Tomaz Oliveria and Nick Adair also scored for Smith Voke, and Chad Grabowski and Shannon Ryan added assists.
Will Ingram had seven saves in net.
Gateway Regional 3, Pioneer Regional 0 — Kendall Rooney, Alyssa Moreau and Ali Fisk each scored a goal as the Gators (7-2-2) earned a shutout on the road.
Charlotte LeBarron was credited with an assist, while Sarah Otterbeck made one save in net.
Amherst 0, Southwick 0 — Becca Carkhuff made six saves and stopped a 25-yard direct kick on net to preserve the tie for the Hurricanes (5-3-3, 1-2-1 Central).
Mahar 1, Smith Academy 0 — Brooke Pashek made seven saves for the Falcons (8-3-1) in a road loss.
Frontier Regional 3, Longmeadow 0 — Cassidy Ciesluk connected on 17 kills and six aces as the Red Hawks (11-2) slipped past the Lancers 27-25, 26-24, 25-16 on the road.
Sarah Woodward added 10 kills, while Emily Woodward had 36 assists and eight aces.
Haley Dacyczyn finished with 10 digs in the win.
South Hadley 3, Belchertown 1 — Maddi Kelleher had six aces and four kills as the Tigers (6-7, 3-2 Southern) won on the road 25-23, 25-16, 16-25, 25-18.
Miranda Stapley had five kills and one block for South Hadley.
Emily Woodford had six kills for the Orioles (4-9, 1-4), while Brionna Beaudry added two aces.
South Hadley 1, West Springfield 1 — Jackie Doyle scored an unassisted goal and Sam Brault made 10 saves in a Tigers (3-8-1) stalemate on the road.
