Northampton man cited after collision sends driver to hospital
NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton man was cited after an accident that sent a Chicopee man to the hospital about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Ernest Booth, 75, of 127 Prospect St., was cited for failure to use care in starting after the collision with a vehicle driven by Michael R. Favreau, 51, of Chicopee.
According to police, Booth was attempting to make a left turn from Elm Street onto North King Street when the accident occurred. Favreau, who was traveling south on North King, was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital after he complained about back pain, according to police. His condition was not available from the hospital.
Cummington woman hurt in Northampton three-car collision
NORTHAMPTON — A three-car chain-reaction crash on Bridge Street Monday afternoon sent a Cummington woman to the hospital with an apparent head injury.
Alexis M. Svoboda, 18, of 459 Stage Road, was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital after striking her head on the steering wheel of her car during the collision, police said.
Svoboda’s condition was not available from the hospital.
According to police, Svoboda was traveling east on Bridge Street about 1 p.m. when she struck the vehicle directly in front of her, which then struck a third vehicle in front of the second, damaging all three.
No other injuries were reported and no citations were issued, according to police.
Electronic items valued at more than $1,000 taken in Pelham
PELHAM — More than $1,000 in electronic items, including a flat-screen television and several gaming systems, were stolen from a North Valley Road home in a break-in reported Friday, said Police Chief Gary Thomann.
Thomann said the homeowner came to the police station at 12:30 p.m. when she noticed that the items were missing after being away from her home for three hours. She also reported the break-in was possibly still in progress after hearing a noise coming from the rear of the residence.
When police got there, officers found evidence that the back door had been kicked in and the intruder had rummaged through all rooms, Thomann said. The only other item stolen was a paintball gun.
This was the first break-in reported in Pelham this year, according to Thomann. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Pelham police at 253-0484.
Five arrests in Easthampton tied to underage drinking
EASTHAMPTON — Police arrested five young people on the Manhan Rail Trail behind the Pleasant Street mills Friday night on charges related to drinking.
An alleged disturbance there at 7:32 p.m. led to the police arresting Melissa Molloy, 21, of 15 Payson Ave., Apt. 3, on charges of procuring alcohol for a person under 21 and consuming alcohol on a public way, Dylan C. Pinkham, 20, of 39 Prospect St., and Dale Mulholland, 20, of 334 Main St., Apt. 2, were each charged with consuming alcohol on a public way and being underage and in possession of alcohol.
At 10:53 p.m., police responded to the same area and arrested Mitchell A. Strojny, 20, of 5 Laurie Drive, Southampton, on charges of consuming alcohol on a public way, trespassing and being underage and in possession of alcohol. They also arrested a 16-year-old juvenile, who police did not identify, on the same charges.
■ Pope Durham-Pacheco, 29, of Hartford, Conn., was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday at Northampton Road and South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said. Her vehicle bumped a second vehicle, causing minor damage and no injuries, police said.
■ A woman walking her pets at Amethyst Brook Conservation Area on Pelham Road reported at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday that she returned to find a smashed window on her vehicle and a purse and briefcase had been stolen.
■ Maurice Armond St. Onge, 46, who provided an address as the streets of Amherst, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Monday at Aspen Chase Apartments on a charge of trespassing after he was found in the laundry room drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette, police said.
■ Steven M. Kehler, 60, of 16 Arlington Road, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Saturday at an Amherst home on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
■ Sean A. Goode, 24, of Warwick, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Sunday on Ware Road on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, failure to stop or yield, failure to stay within marked lanes, speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and a warrant, police said.
■ Eric Paul Atwell, 24, of 121 North Main St., Unit Q-4, was arrested at 7:38 a.m. Saturday at a Belchertown home on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order.
■ Shawn E. Greaney, 27, of 779 Federal St., was arrested at 11:46 a.m. Friday at a Belchertown business on a warrant, police said.
■ Alan C. Smith, 44, of Thorndike, was arrested at 10:16 p.m. Thursday at a Belchertown home on charges of assault and battery, intimidation of a witness and violating an abuse prevention order.
■ Demicia Jackson, 26, of 121 North Main St., Unit Q-2, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. June 10 at home on a warrant.
■ Sean Patrick Walker, 26, of Three Rivers, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. June 10 on Rockrimmon Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
■ Jose A. Zamora, 33, of 29 Exeter St., Apt. M, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Saturday on East Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and speeding.
■ Michael Geryk, 51, of 418 Main St., Apt. 1, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Friday on Main Street on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.
■ Police took a report at 1:26 p.m. Friday that a vehicle parked outside a store at Mountain Farms Mall was entered through a smashed window and an iPhone was stolen. Police are investigating.
■ Nina S. Kuter, 21, of 292 Elm St., was arrested about 12:49 a.m. Wednesday on Pleasant Street on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
■ Timothy Walter Lipski, 26, of 3 Ferry Ave., was arrested about 3:34 p.m. Monday on Mount Tom Road on charges of possessing a class A drug (heroin) with intent to distribute (subsequent offense), possessing a class A drug (heroin, subsequent offense), possessing a Class B drug (crack cocaine, subsequent offense), operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
■ Jeffery S. Wilson, 56, of 421 North Main St., Leeds, was arrested about 3:26 p.m. Monday at the VA medical center on a Hingham District Court warrant related to charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or expired license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to register as a sex offender, according to police.
■ Umar Faruq, 53, of 218 State St., Apt. A, was arrested about 12:48 a.m. Monday at State and Finn streets on charges of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot) and domestic assault and battery. According to police, Faruq threw a woman to the ground and kicked her during an argument.
