Bomb scare evacuates Jabish Brook Middle School in Belchertown

BELCHERTOWN — A bomb threat forced the evacuation of the Jabish Brook Middle School Thursday afternoon. No bomb was found.

Police said they will increase their presence at the school Friday as a result of the threat, which included the date Jan. 4, 2013.

The middle school was evacuated about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, not long after classes had ended for the day. Police said the school’s office received a report of a bomb threat written on a wall in a boys’ bathroom.

The State Police Bomb Squad searched the school’s interior and exterior of the building at 62 North Washington St. and did not find anything.
