Area police news

Amherst

• A woman at Puffton Village reported at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday that someone Monday night broke into her car, stole items including a GPS navigational device and jewelry, popped the ignition and successfully drove off before returning the vehicle. Police are investigating.

Hadley

• Rebecca J. Cherrington, 17, of 194 North Valley Road, Pelham, and a 14-year-old girl, no address available, were arrested at 3:56 p.m. Sunday at Target in the Hampshire Mall on charges of shoplifting by concealment.

• Police cleared more than 200 college-age people from a house party at 12:17 a.m. Saturday after guests spilled into the roadway at the intersection of Route 9 and Mill Valley Road.

Kevin Patrick Drislane, 20, of 124 Rocky Hill Road, was arrested at the scene on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

• At 5:18 p.m. Saturday, police called for assistance from three University of Massachusetts units to disperse a large party on North Maple Street where there was a report of partyers walking onto a neighboring property.

Another large party with college-age students was broken up at a Rocky Hill Road home a short time later, after it had been going on for about three hours.

• Mollie Lynn Peters, 33, of Greenfield, was arrested at 2:12 p.m. Friday at Target in the Hampshire Mall on a charge of larceny over $250 by single scheme after she left the store without paying for merchandise, police said.

UMass

• Alexander Daniel Bush, 21, of Rockville Center, N.Y., was arrested at 1:31 a.m. Saturday on Presidents Drive on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

• Kari Ann Vetter, 19, of Weehawken, N.J., was arrested at 1:01 a.m. Saturday in Lot 22 off University Drive on charges of breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime to commit a felony and receiving stolen property over $250.

• Muhammad Fahd Iham, 19, of 630 Massachusetts Ave., Unit 2012, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Friday in the Orchard Hill Bowl on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and interfering with the work of a police animal.
