Woman injured when struck by vehicle in Amherst parking lot
AMHERST — A resident of Applewood, the retirement and assisted living community in South Amherst, suffered a head injury after she was knocked to the ground by a vehicle Wednesday morning, according to police.
Joan E. Ciruti, 83, of 111 Spencer Drive, was walking in the parking lot when she was struck by a vehicle backing from a parking spot driven by Leslie A. Ciruti, who was conscious when paramedics got to the scene, was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Knightly said.
Ciruti’s condition was not immediately available from a hospital spokesman.
The accident remains under investigation, Knightly said.
