Emergency system testing planned for Thursday at UMass

The sirens, which are expected to sound after 3:30 p.m., will be accompanied by text messaging, broadcast emails and use of other social media.

These are all part of efforts to evaluate and improve the ability of UMass officials to get timely and effective notifications and warnings out to the campus community if there is an emergency, the school says.
