Daylight car break-ins continue in Amherst
AMHERST — Two more daytime break-ins to vehicles parked in Amherst were reported to police Tuesday.
In the first incident, reported at 11:53 a.m., a vehicle parked outside the Cushman Market and Cafe, 491 Pine St., had a window smashed out, Detective Richard MacLean said. It was uncertain if anything was stolen, MacLean said.
At 12:25 p.m., a car parked at the Adams Brook Forest on North East Street, commonly referred to as the rifle range, was entered through a smashed passenger-side window. A purse, wallet, credit cards and other items were taken, Mac-Lean said.
Both incidents are under investigation.
