Amherst

■ Daniel Nicholas Dodman, 21, of 159 Montague Road, Unit 2, was arrested at 6:34 p.m. Thursday on Chestnut Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to stay within marked lanes, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, police said.

Dodman was arrested after he fled on foot from the scene of the crash on Triangle Street in which the vehicle he was driving hit a utility pole, causing minor damage, and then got hung up on boulders along the edge of the street, police said.

Northampton

■ Annaclare Kathleen Lipsmeyer, 30, of Williams Street, Northampton, was arrested at 3:50 a.m. Friday on Crafts Avenue on charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Police said Lipsmeyer’s car fit the description of a vehicle observed driving the wrong way on South Street and hitting a parking meter. Lipsmeyer refused field sobriety tests, police said.

■ Timothy Glenn Stahl, 34, of Center Street, Northampton, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. Friday at Cumberland Farms on King Street on charges of trespassing. Police said Stahl violated a previous trespassing order.

■ Ryan J. Murphy, 25, of Westfield, was arrested at 8:46 p.m. Thursday at the Wal-Mart on King Street on a shoplifting charge. Police said Murphy was seen leaving the store on King Street without paying for $245 worth of clothing, DVDs and food items in his cart.

■ Police said a 27-year-old Fairfield, Texas, man who was driving a motorized scooter on Westhampton Road at 8 p.m. Thursday was taken to the hospital for cuts on his leg after he swerved to avoid a bear cub crossing the road. Police said the man was wearing a helmet.

■ A 9-year-old boy reported being scratched on the arm by a loose dog about 4:35 p.m. Thursday on Fort Hill Terrace. Police said the boy was on a playground outside of Northampton Pediatrics when he was scratched by a reddish brown Rhodesian Ridgeback. City animal control officers are investigating.

Southampton

■ David R. Coscia, 35, of 57 Drewsen Drive, Florence, was arrested on College Highway at 2:41 a.m. June 16 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, and having an invalid inspection sticker.

■ Lindsay M. Camp, 18, of 94 Gilbert Road, had to be extricated from a vehicle that went off College Highway and rolled over near Gunn Road at 11:21 a.m. June 13. Police said that Camp was not injured and that rain may have been a factor in the crash.

■ Alexander R. Riel, 21, of 8 Madison Ave., was arrested at his home at 7:42 p.m. June 11 on a warrant.

■ Police investigated a break at a residence on Crooked Ledge Road at noon June 9. Police found a door had been pried open and a window screen cut, but nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed inside.

■ Marjorie R. Britton, 24, of 154 Brickyard Road, was arrested on that road at 2:07 a.m. June 7 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, failing to stay within marked lanes and having an invalid inspection sticker.

■ Peter F. Delacruz, 30, of Chicopee, was arrested at 12:46 a.m. June 2 at the intersection of County and Bluemer roads on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance (cocaine), speeding and having an invalid inspection sticker.

■ Ryan F. Begyn, 19, of 9 Russellville Road, was arrested at 1:02 a.m. June 1 on Cold Spring Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

■ Matthew Mineau, 30, of 19 Cottage Ave., was arrested at his home at 9:55 p.m. May 29 on a warrant.

■ Kevin P. Clark, 21, of 624 West Road, Westfield, was arrested at 2:57 a.m. May 26 on College Highway on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and failing to stay within marked lanes.
