Valley Views: Local photographers aim their cameras outdoors
AFTER THE STORM
Plum Brook Conservation Area, Amherst
Photograph and text by Karen Lemoine of Amherst
The day after a snowstorm often is wonderfully beautiful, with bright blue skies, crisp white snow and a hush in the woods. Everything is pristine. On this particular day after a storm, the sun had just begun to pour over the treetops and flood the brook with light. The demarcation line between day and night was quite evident. Above, you can see dreamy golden early morning; below, the serene blue twilight of dawn. The image was created with a tripod-mounted D-SLR camera and a telephoto lens.
Karen Lemoine is affiliated with the Robert Floyd Photo Gallery, 2 East St., College Highway, Southampton. Other nature images are on view there Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m.
