Tuesday’s colleges: Amherst women’s basketball team remains undefeated
The Amherst College women’s basketball team held Wesleyan to 23 percent shooting and remained undefeated with a 46-30 victory Tuesday in Amherst.
The Lord Jeffs (20-0, 6-0 NESCAC) held the Cardinals to 5 for 24 in the first half, and 6 for 23 in the second. They forced 19 turnovers and had 10 steals and eight blocked shots.
Bridget Crowley had 11 points, six rebounds, three blocks and three steals to pace Amherst. Megan Robertson added nine points and 12 rebounds.
Amherst 74, Rhode Island College 65 — Aaron Toomey had 34 points and eight rebounds, while David Kalema added 15 as the Lord Jeffs (18-2) won on the road.
Peter Kaasila added 10 points, while Northampton’s Willy Workman had 10 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Westfield State 86, Worcester State 70 — Former Northampton standout Grant Cooper had 14 points as the Owls (16-4, 6-2 MASCAC) won on the road.
