Erica Marquis Little, 36, of 1040 North Pleasant St., unit 376, was arrested Friday at 3:50 p.m. at her Puffton Village home on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, said Police Detective Lt. Ronald Young.

Young said detectives got a call from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield at 5:20 a.m. notifying the department about a 34-year-old Amherst man with non-life-threatening injuries who was being treated at the hospital.

An investigation during the day revealed that the incident likely occurred at the apartment complex.

“It began as a disagreement of some sort and progressed as the evening went on,” Young said.

The man, who is known to Little, checked into the hospital between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Young said the victim was driven there by another person.

Initially the victim claimed he had suffered a self-inflicted wound.

Young said state law requires hospitals to notify local police departments when they are treating any victims with wounds from gunshots or sharp objects such as knives.

The knife used during the incident has been found, Young said.
