Amherst Police

• Emily R. Whalen, 21, of Townehouse Apartments, was arrested Jan. 13 at 2:14 a.m. on Main Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes.

Whalen’s vehicle went off the road in front of the police station, destroyed four parking meters and traveled 25 feet on the sidewalk before coming to a stop, police said.

Whalen and her two passengers were not injured, police said.

• Ryan Gamble, 30, of East Hadley Road, was arrested Jan. 11 at 10:11 p.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of assault and battery on a pregnant woman and intimidating a witness.

The woman didn’t require medical attention, police said.

• Adam Gamble, 29, of East Hadley Road, was arrested Jan. 11 at 10:12 a.m. at home on a warrant.

• A 34-year-old Florence man will be summoned to court on charges of possessing a class A drug (subsequent offense) and possessing a class E drug following an incident at the Craig’s Place homeless shelter Jan. 11 at 3:03 a.m.

The drugs in the man’s possession were either heroin or methamphetamine, and medication without a prescription, police said.

• Matthew D. Dinges, 36, of Morning Star Drive, Hadley, was arrested Jan. 11 at 1:07 a.m. on Amity Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

• Donald G. Hathaway, 26, of Echo Village Apartments, was arrested Jan. 10 at 9:16 a.m. on South East Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense) and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker.

• A 53-year-old Amherst woman will be summoned to court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker following a traffic stop on North Pleasant Street Jan. 10 at 2:03 a.m.

• Robert S. Ferriter, 27, of West Street, was arrested Jan. 9 at 6:50 p.m. at home on three warrants.

• Phillippe J. Michaud, 21, of Harkness Road, Pelham, was arrested Jan. 9 at 1:28 a.m. on Main Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes.

• Maurice A. St. Onge, 45, who provided an address as the streets of Amherst, was arrested Jan. 9 at 1:17 a.m. at the Craig’s Place homeless shelter on a warrant.

• A 51-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on a charge of larceny over $250 after he allegedly stole an iPad from a downtown business Dec. 12 and buried it in the woods behind the store, police said.

Another customer had accidentally left the iPad in the store, but the suspect claimed to an employee that he owned it. When the rightful owner returned to the store, the iPad was already gone.

The iPad was dug up Jan. 8 after the man revealed where he had put it.

Hadley Police

• Chelsea Corbett, 18, of Florence, and Shanon Moret, 19, of Hatfield, were arrested Jan. 7 at 2:39 p.m. at the Super Stop & Shop in the Campus Shopping Plaza on charges of shoplifting after leaving the store without paying for $67.66 in various food products, police said.
