Three arrested after fight outside downtown club in Amherst
Three people were arrested outside a downtown nightclub following a fight police were called to break up early on the morning of Dec. 7.
Detective Christina Knightly said police were called to the area of Club Lit, 41 Boltwood Walk, at 1:17 a.m. after a person was seen dragging another man on the sidewalk outside the establishment.
At the same time, a man and woman got into a confrontation on the surface level of the nearby parking garage, where a number of people who had been inside the club were gathered.
The woman, identified as Shavoryia G. McElroy, 21, of Mattapan, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after she refused to calm down and cooperate with officers, Knightly said.
The other man fled the scene.
A man who said he was McElroy’s boyfriend tried to prevent an officer from arresting her, police said. Michael A. Madrey, 23, of Hyde Park, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting arrest, Knightly said.
A short time later, another man came running out of the bar to confront police. Derek Atocha, 22, of Dorchester, was taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting arrest, Knightly said.
Police are continuing to investigate the initial incident that prompted the response, with one man suffering a contusion to his head but declining medical attention.
His assailant is expected to be summoned to court on charges of assault and battery and possession of a fake ID, Knightly said.
