Westfield house fire kills 92-year-old man
WESTFIELD (AP) — A 92-year-old Westfield man pulled from his burning home by firefighters has died.
Deputy Chief Patrick Kane says the victim died at a hospital later Monday after firefighters used a ladder to rescue the man who was found unconscious on the second floor of the home at about 12:30 a.m.
The man’s name was not immediately released.
Kane says the fire remains under investigation but appears to be accidental and likely started in the basement in the area of the oil furnace.
No one else was at home at the time.
