Final forum on later start for Northampton High School set for Monday
What’s being billed as the final public forum on the issue of a later start for Northampton High School will be held on Monday.
The date is a change from one announced by the school department earlier this month. The forum will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Northampton High School on Elm Street and will be moderated by schools Superintendent Brian Salzer.
Earlier this month, the School Committee narrowed its focus to two start-time proposals members will vote on in November. The first would move the high school bell from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. by shifting the start time at JFK Middle School 15 minutes earlier. A second proposal would keep JFK’s start time at 7:55 a.m. and move the high school start time to 8:30 a.m. Both proposals would also involve a longer elementary school day.
For details on the forum, contact the superintendent’s office, 587-1329.
