NORTHAMPTON — Northampton Mayor David J. Narkewicz is seeking residents to serve on new advisory board that will make recommendations about compensation for elected officials.
The City Council recently created the seven-member Elected Officials Compensation Advisory Board, as instructed by the city’s new charter approved last year. The board will study the adequacy and equity of compensation, benefits and expense allowances of municipal elected officials.
Narkewicz will appoint members to the board. The council will vote to confirm members, and will have final authorization to act on any recommendations made by the new board.
Other upcoming vacancies on other boards include three on the Arts Council and the Housing Partnership, two each on the Board of Public Works, Council on Aging, Tree Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals and one each on the Recreation Commission, the Central Business Architecture Committee and Planning Board.
