UMass student Entricus N. Nyaigoti injured when struck by car on Main Street in Amherst
AMHERST — A University of Massachusetts student from Clinton suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being struck Tuesday evening by a vehicle on Main Street.
Detective Lt. Ronald Young said Entricus N. Nyaigoti, 22, was crossing Main Street near South Whitney Street about 8 p.m. when he was hit by a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by Kevin W. Brooks, 21, of 160 Aldrich St., Belchertown.
Nyaigoti was taken by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Young said. A hospital spokeswoman said he was released from the hospital Wednesday.
Young said the accident remains under investigation and Brooks has not been charged or cited. Officers spoke to eyewitnesses at the scene and are still trying to determine how the accident occurred.
Nyaigoti was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck, but was in the travel lane, Young said.
