Brian Miller, Middlefield School Committee member, victim of fatal crash in Cummington
CUMMINGTON — The motorcyclist who was killed while traveling east on Route 9 in Cummington earlier this week has been identified as Brian Miller of Middlefield.
Miller, 55, was a member of the Middlefield School Committee and represented the town on the Gateway Regional School Committee.
Members of the Cummington police and fire departments responded to the accident at Kings Corner about 3:15 p.m. Monday and found that Miller had been thrown from his Harley Davidson Sportster and down a steep embankment near Wilder Road.
Cummington Fire Chief Bernard Forgea said that no other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the accident, but police had received information about a car driving erratically in that area.
The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section continues to investigate the accident.
According to the Middlefield Facebook page, friends and relatives of Miller will gather at the Middlefield Fairgrounds at noon Saturday to remember him.
