Divers have no luck looking for Lusher boy in Becket pond

BECKET — State police divers from Massachusetts and New York have completed a three-day search of a Berkshire County pond for the remains of a teenager who went missing 21 years ago without success.

But police say their efforts to find the remains of 16-year-old Jamie Lusher of Westfield in Greenwater Pond in Becket are not over.

A state police spokesman says divers will return to the pond for training and to continue their search when they can.

Police started a search of the 88-acre pond after a man serving a life sentence for killing two children confessed to killing Lusher in 1992 and dumping his body in the pond.

Lusher’s father, James, thanked police and said his son’s killer unwittingly put him in a place the boy would have loved.
