Area police news


■ Daniel Campbell, 21, of Springfield, was arrested Wednesday at 6:37 a.m. at an Amherst apartment on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he punched his former girlfriend in the face, police said.

■ A 48-year-old man will be summoned to court on charges of threatening to commit a crime and assault after he went to an Amherst home and threatened to harm a resident during an incident reported Tuesday at 8:17 a.m., police said.


■ Police said sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday a vehicle parked on Fruit Street was reportedly broken into and the car stereo, valued at about $100 was stolen. The car was left unlocked with its sunroof open, according to police.

■ Wilfredo O. Flores, 20, of Holyoke, was arrested about 1:44 a.m. Wednesday on Mount Tom Road on a charge of disorderly conduct.

According to police, Flores was walking along the road with a leashed dog and repeatedly crossed over the fog line into traffic, causing vehicles to have to swerve suddenly or stop altogether to avoid him and the dog. Flores allegedly became argumentative with officers trying to get him to move along safely, according to police.
