Thefts reported from vehicles at dog park

Northampton Police Det. Patrick Moody said the car breaks at the dog park are “picking up with the nice weather.”

“People shouldn’t leave valuables in their cars,” he said Sunday. “These people are just smashing windows, grabbing purses and leaving.”

Police are investigating a report received Friday at 6:05 p.m. that the driver-side window of a car parked at the dog park was smashed and a purse and its contents, valued at about $50, was taken. On Thursday morning, another vehicle owner reported a car’s window had been smashed there and a purse and its contents, valued at approximately $200, were stolen.

Jonathan A. Laurence, 52, of 43 Center St., was arrested at Cooley Dickinson Hospital on Locust Street Friday at 12:23 p.m. on a warrant for trespassing.
