Police looking for alleged computer thief
NORTHAMPTON — Police are investigating the alleged theft of a desktop computer from the Wal-Mart on North King Street.
According to police, the theft was reported about 6:47 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the suspected shoplifter is described as a white male in his mid 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and may be driving a green Plymouth or Dodge vehicle.
According to police, the male allegedly took a Gateway computer worth about $500 out of the store without stopping to pay for it before getting into a car and leaving the area.

∎ Randy Tanvangura Santiago, 22, of 165 Brittany Manor, Unit D, was arrested Thursday at 1:50 a.m. on Belchertown Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger.
∎ Carl Timothy Estrella, 40, of Boston, was arrested Wednesday at 3:37 p.m. at North Pleasant on charges of shoplifting and larceny over $250 after he was stopped by security at a downtown store trying to take dental-care items and other merchandise valued at more than $1,000, police said.
∎ Jake Maxwell Bouchard, 19, of 811 East Pleasant St., was arrested Wednesday at 12:54 p.m. near his home on a warrant after officers responded to a reported disturbance, police said.
∎ Police received a report Wednesday at 5:48 p.m. that a wallet in an unlocked car parked near 124 Cottage St. was taken.
∎ Police investigated numerous reports that unlocked vehicles were broken into in the Hendrick Street area sometime late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Only small amounts of change were reported missing from the seven vehicles, located mostly on Hendrick Street, with one each on Brook Street and over the town line in Southampton on Eastwood Drive.
∎ Shannon M. Mucha, 35, of Chicopee, was arrested on Holyoke Street Tuesday at 9:37 p.m. on a warrant.
∎ Police investigated a report Monday at 10:13 a.m. that 12 pallets valued at $150 were taken from JJM Boilerworks at 69 Ferry St. over the weekend.
∎ Police investigated a report March 22 at 8:22 a.m. that the back door of M&M Service Center at 19 Parsons St. was broken into and some quarters were taken from the cash register.
∎ John Johnson, 46, of 8 Sheldon Ave., was arrested at home March 20 at 10:04 p.m. on a charge of assault and battery after he allegedly tried to strangle his fiancee, police said.
∎ James Witbeck, 26, of 24 West Center St., Florence, was arrested about 2:05 a.m. Thursday on Strong Avenue on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
∎ Jonathan Anthony Laurence, 52, of 43 Center St., was arrested about 7:09 p.m. Wednesday on State Street on a charge of trespassing.
∎ Omar Amaya, 28, of 248 Amherst Road, Unit M1, Sunderland, was arrested March 22 at 8:52 p.m. on the Route 116 bypass on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
