Intruder scared away
by Amherst homeowner

Police were contacted at 4:17 p.m. by a Beston Street resident who reported finding a man inside his residence, said Detective Janet Lopez.

The homeowner then chased the burglar out of the residence, Lopez said.

Nothing appeared to be stolen and it was unclear if forced entry was made. The suspect has not been identified.

Lopez said this was the only break-in reported Wednesday and police have not been notified of any similar incidents. Police advise residents to make sure their doors and windows are locked when they are away.
