Man faces drug charges after December traffic stop
NORTHAMPTON — A Hartford man denied a charge of possession of heroin with intent to distribute following a December traffic stop which allegedly recovered approximately 150 bags of the drug.
Elvin Gonzalez, 35, pleaded not guilty to the charge in Hampshire Superior Court Friday morning. According to prosecutors, on Dec. 14 Gonzalez was driving a vehicle with three passengers on I-91 northbound near Northampton, when he allegedly cut off a state police cruiser on patrol, forcing the trooper to swerve onto the “rumble strip” at the side of the road, prompting the traffic stop. Gonzalez is being held on $2,500 bail.
