Man with a knife holds up Doyle’s Package store in Florence
NORTHAMPTON — A man wearing a brown ski mask and wielding a fold-up knife held up Doyle’s Package Store on Main Street in Florence late Thursday, police reported.
Police Capt. Scott Savino said the man came into the store wearing the mask around 10:22 p.m., displayed the knife and asked for money. Savino said the store clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, then threw a couple of liquor bottles at the man as he left the store. The man was last seen walking down Maple Street in the direction of Nonotuck Street. He was described as a white male about six feet tall wearing jeans. Savino said officers canvassed the area with the assistance of a state police canine unit. They found a brown ski mask and a pair of jeans lying on the ground in the area around Maple Street.
