Northampton police issue notices of sex offenders in city
NORTHAMPTON — Police have issued notices about three Level 3 sex offenders living in Northampton.
Michael Joseph Lane, 41, of 43 Center St., was convicted of three counts of open and gross lewdness and sentenced to two years in jail.
Lane is described as a white male, about 6 feet 4 inches tall, with blue eyes and brown hair, weighing about 275 pounds.
Steven James Hibbard, 58, of 117 Conz St., Room 103, was convicted of six counts of rape of a child by force, three counts of rape and abuse of a child, and eight counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 in 2007 and was sentenced to three to four years in prison, followed by 10 years probation. Hibbard is described as a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with hazel eyes and gray or partially gray hair, weighing about 170 pounds.
Glen C. Wheeler, also known as Shareef Qadeer, 63, of 129 Pleasant St., Apt. 34, was convicted in 1999 on 22 counts of indecent assault and battery on a child and two counts of posing a child in a state of nudity.
Wheeler is described as a white male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with brown eyes and brown hair, with a mustache and beard, wearing glasses and weighing about 165 pounds.
None of the men are wanted by police. Police are required by law to notify the community of all registered Level 3 sex offenders living or working in town.
Level 3 sex offender classification means the individual is determined by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board to have a high risk of reoffending.
