Hatfield firefighters respond to trio of calls Tuesday morning

The first call came in at 8:16 a.m. when a tree limb came down and shorted out the primary power lines on Cronin Hill Road.

“When we got there the pole was on fire,” said Belden. “I heard that it took out power for a lot of the town.”

Right after the power outage, firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm going off at the North Hatfield Post Office.

“I believe the alarm was just going off as a response to the power going out, Belden said.

Belden said power was quickly restored in town.

At 9:45, firefighters also responded to a call of a faulty furnace causing smoke to build up in a house at 356 West St.

“There was no actual fire in the home, but we did have to vent the home of smoke,” Belden said.
