Bicyclist struck by truck in Westfield dies of injuries
WESTFIELD (AP) — Police say an 86-year-old cyclist struck by a pickup truck while out riding in Westfield has died.
Capt. Hipolito Nunez says the man struck at about 2 p.m. Tuesday died overnight from his injuries at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Police tell The Republican the cyclist was struck in front of Westfield State University’s athletic fieldhouse.
The bicycle and truck were headed in the same direction.
The crash remains under investigation and the driver has not been charged.
The names of the victim and the driver have not been made public.
