Two arrested after stop by police in Leeds
NORTHAMPTON — Two men were arrested early Sunday morning in Leeds after police stopped an allegedly drunken driver and dealt with an out-of-control passenger.
Justin A. Lesko, 41, of 59A Whately Road, South Deerfield, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Lesko’s vehicle was initially stopped after officers determined he had an expired and non-renewable license, police said.
While officers allowed Jayme Richard Malinowski, 26, of 53 Florence St., Leeds, to return to his nearby home, he refused to calm down and follow instructions, instead repeatedly yelling at officers and disturbing the neighborhood to such an extent that lights began coming on in homes and residents were looking out their windows, police said.
Malinowski was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.
∎ Marcelino Cedeno-Felix, 26, of Hartford, Conn., was arrested Saturday at 8:05 p.m. on Barrett Street on three counts of domestic assault and battery and on charges of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and intimidating a witness, police said.
Cedeno-Felix allegedly repeatedly hit, slapped and punched a woman while in a vehicle returning from West Springfield and also made threats to the woman, police said.
The woman’s injuries were minor, according to police.
∎ Maria Santos, 22, of 491 Bridge Road, unit 412, Florence, was arrested Saturday at 4:16 p.m. at her home on Springfield District Court warrants for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and failure to appear for an operating under the influence of alcohol charge, police said.
∎ Police are investigating a break in to a South Street apartment in which cash and loose change were stolen that was reported Saturday at 12:37 p.m.
∎ Steve Basabe Etinde, 22, of 10 Meadowbrook Drive, Hadley, was arrested Friday at 11:29 p.m. at Tully O’Reilly’s, 1 Pearl St., on a charge of trespassing, police said.
∎ Douglas Reed, 36, of Pittsfield, was arrested Friday at 5:44 p.m. on North Main Street in Florence on a Holyoke District Court warrant, police said.
