Amherst police arrest UMass student in car break-in
AMHERST — A University of Massachusetts student who allegedly broke into a car parked outside a Kellogg Avenue residence was arrested early Wednesday morning.
Lauren E. Crosby, 21, of Middleton, was arrested at 2:14 a.m. on charges of felony nighttime breaking and entering, vandalizing property and larceny over $250, said Police Detective David Foster.
A resident on Kellogg Avenue called police after being woken by his barking dog at 1:59 a.m. and observed the woman outside, Foster said.
About 15 minutes later police located Crosby heading toward Triangle Street and placed her under arrest. She was in possession of both a GPS navigational device and Reese’s Pieces candy she had taken from the vehicle, Foster said.
