Police seek suspect who stole painkillers from pharmacy
NORTHAMPTON — Northampton police say witnesses to a robbery at Walgreens Pharmacy in Florence Wednesday evening described the suspect as a man dressed all in black with his face covered.
Police Capt. Scott Savino said the man passed a pharmacy employee a threatening note around 6:44 p.m. Wednesday that demanded the employee hand over the pharmacy’s supply of the pain medication oxycodone. Savino said the note mentioned a gun, although the man did not display one.
The employee did hand over the oxycodone, though Savino would not say how much. The Walgreens is located at the Northampton Medical Center on Main Street.
The man fled on foot and no one was injured during the incident. Savino said police are investigating whether Wednesday’s robbery was tied to a similar incident last month in Springfield.
