Hadley man arrested after allegedly pulling gun on taxi driver
HADLEY — A passenger in a taxi cab who allegedly pulled a gun on the driver following a dispute over the fare was arrested outside his home early Wednesday morning.
Samuel W. Rohde, 22, of 283 Bay Road, was arrested at 1:55 a.m. on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to Hadley police.
The incident was first reported to Amherst police by the driver, who had dropped off Rohde at the Bay Road residence. After refusing to pay for the ride, Rohde allegedly fled the cab, went into the home and then returned with what looked like a gun, Amherst police said. The gun was later determined to be an airsoft rifle that fires nonlethal bullets.
Amherst police assisted in setting up a perimeter at the home and Rohde was eventually located in the woods behind the residence, where he was taken into custody by Hadley police.
The incident remains under investigation.
