Community gathering Friday in Northampton a response to Connecticut school shooting
NORTHAMPTON — A community gathering in response to the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary school will be held Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Edwards Church, 297 Main St.
The event, organized by the local nonprofit MotherWoman, will include music and song led by The Nields and local women’s choir WINGS. There will also be a call to action, including an opportunity to join together in calling on legislators to lead the way in developing a substantive plan to end gun violence in the United States.
Rabbi Nancy Flam will offer a prayer. Other community organizations, such as Safe Passage, the Cooley Dickinson Midwifery Center, The Yoga Sanctuary and the Haydenville Congregational Church are co-sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.
