Caleigh Giangregorio, a fashion design major at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, says her attire makes a statement about who she is. The Style Stop team thought so, too, when it came across Giangregorio recently on Masonic Street in Northampton, decked out in a distinctive, all-black ensemble.

HER STATEMENT: I’m big into black, and I’m a big advocate for dressing for yourself, for who you are.

WHERE SHE SHOPS: I shop everywhere. I shop online a lot, to find stuff you wouldn’t normally find around here. The jewelry is from H&M and Macy’s. H&M is probably my favorite.

THE unexpected buy: The shirt is thrifted — Salvation Army I think. The skirt is Urban Outfitters. I like it because it’s not really something you would expect to find there.

PERSONAL STYLE: I like to dress risky, not in a way that offends people, but so people say, “She has guts.” You gotta dress like you don’t care who’s watching. People respect personal style if you show you really have something unique.

FASHION ADVICE: Dress for yourself and walk confident. Don’t try and follow the trends too much. Don’t fall for what people try to sell you in stores, they try to sell you things you don’t want or need. Dress in what makes you feel good.
