Style Stop: Vanessa Vargas
Even half-hidden behind the counter at The Artisan Gallery on Main Street, Vanessa Vargas’ outfit looked intriguing. When she came into full view, it was clear this Northampton woman has a style all her own.

HER OUTFIT: My partner said it looked kind of inspired by Japanese fashion because of the volume of it.
THE SKIRT: I call it a pouf skirt. I like clothes that are 100-percent cotton, so that was really a bonus with this — and I guess I did like the volume of it.
TOP: I’m wearing a tank top — I bought this so a little color would stick out — and I’m wearing a cotton sweater over it.
BOOTS: I put away the little heels. In winter, I need to be more grounded when it’s possibly icy outside.

WHAT SHE LIKES: Texture and comfort — I especially love cotton and wool. I would say I shop mostly for textures. I’ll go over a rack feeling for texture and then I’ll check out patterns.
HER STYLE: I try to dress in a way that shows how I would want my possible future self to be.
