Station Road, South Amherst

Photograph and text by Anne E. Ely of South Hadley

Looking over the bank one day while walking the rail trail off Station Road in South Amherst, I spotted these two ducklings huddling on a mossy log in the water. A gentleman passing by said that they had been there about two weeks and had either been abandoned or orphaned. They were so hidden from view that it was difficult to get a clear image, but I finally managed to get a couple, using a 200 mm zoom on my tripod-mounted DSLR camera.

Anne Ely is affiliated with the Robert Floyd Photo Gallery, 2 East St., Southampton. Other nature images are on view there Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m.
