HANK’S LANDING, QUABBIN

Belchertown

Photograph and text by Patti Castagne of Northampton

This photo was taken last winter at Hank’s Landing at the Quabbin. I had never seen water freeze like that before and thought it would be an interesting picture. It was extremely cold when I went there and it was such a beautiful crisp day. The interesting thing is that there was only a small area where the lake had frozen in that manner. It was as though the waters were hitting against something and froze in that way — but there was nothing there. This image was captured with a DSLR camera and a wide-angle lens.

Patti Castagne is affiliated with the Robert Floyd Photo Gallery, 2 East St., College Highway, Southampton. Other nature images are on view there Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m.
