University of Massachusetts Hillel plans bike, run/walk fundraiser in Amherst
AMHERST — The University of Massachusetts Hillel will hold its seventh annual Ride to Provide on Sunday.
The event, which offers three bike courses, 9, 18 or 36 miles, has added a 5k Fun Run/Walk, to raise money for Hillel’s community service and green projects in the United States and around the world.
This year more than 300 participants have signed up, including 24 teams, organizer Courtney Pupkin said. Teams from last year’s event raised nearly $8,000, according to Pupkin.
A post-ride celebration will include a free catered Kosher lunch, free chair massages, raffles and a community fair, where groups may set up to promote their businesses or organizations.
Pupkin said service trips students have taken in the past include travels to Argentina, Uruguay, Israel and New Orleans.
Registration is now open at www.umasshillel.org/ridetoprovide.
