Motorcyclist suffers facial injuries in crash — and other area police news (with correction)

Amherst

■John F. Bamberger, 61, of 33 Kellogg Ave., Unit 34, suffered facial injuries after the motorcycle he was riding struck a curb and crashed on North Pleasant Street near the University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center at 7:08 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Bamberger was taken by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was listed in fair condition Monday night, according to a hospital spokesman.

■Amanda Beth Lamb, 43, of Springfield, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Saturday on Montague Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and possessing Class B and E drugs (prescription medications).

■Shaquille Akeem Rodriguez, 20, of 693 Main St., Unit 13, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Friday in downtown Amherst on a warrant.

Easthampton

■Carlos Maldonado, 57, of Northampton, was arrested at 12:17 a.m. Thursday on Little Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for OUI and speeding.*

Hadley

■Police are investigating incidents at the Hampshire Mall reported at 11:14 a.m. Saturday in which a couple attempted to pass a bad check for $800 at Best Buy after previously shoplifting a $200 camera from Target.

Northampton

■Ursula M. Shea, 50, of 115 Ryan Road, Florence, was arrested at 6:31 p.m. Sunday on Oak Street on charges of assault and battery on a person over 60 or disabled and resisting arrest after a verbal argument turned physical.

■Lawrence Gray, 55, of 421 North Main St., Leeds, was arrested at 12:53 p.m. Sunday on a warrant issued by Fall River District Court related to a charge of larceny under $250.

■David Kelly, 29, of Springfield, was arrested at 5:53 p.m. Saturday on Industrial Drive on a warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and operating as a habitual traffic offender.

■David H. Matos-Magrass, 21, of 61 Crescent St., was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Saturday on King Street on a charge of shoplifting after leaving Stop and Shop without paying for about $95 worth of groceries.

■Marshall Tilbrook Poe, 51, of 53 North St., was arrested at 11:17 a.m. Saturday on Pomeroy Terrace on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (pavement) on a person over 60 or disabled and assault and battery on a person over 60 with injury after allegedly pushing a 70-year-old Northampton man to the ground during an argument.

■Ryan Michael Hicks, 26, of Lee, was arrested at 1:01 a.m. Saturday on Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

UMass

■Conor Flynn Swinson, 22, of Westford, was arrested at 2:59 a.m. Sunday on Sylvan Drive on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense).

■Logan M. Corsello, 18, of Livingston, N.J., was arrested at 12:13 a.m. Friday in Lot 32E off Massachusetts Avenue on a charge of vandalizing property.
