Equipment failure causes power outage in Easthampton area Sunday
EASTHAMPTON — About 1,300 households in Easthampton and Southampton lost power early Sunday as a result of a problem with a cable at a substation that supplies power to the area.
Western Massachusetts Electric Co. spokeswoman Lynn Vasquez said that when the outage first occurred around 2 a.m., approximately 1,300 homes lost power. After some repairs, the number without power was down to about 400 by 6:45 a.m. Power was restored to all customers by 7:10 a.m., she said.
