Northampton police

■ Ellen M. Girard, 50, of 20 Riverbank Road, was arrested Sunday at 12:17 a.m. on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Police said Girard was arrested after they found her sitting outside her vehicle, which was stopped on the side of Bridge Street with its hazard lights on and severe damage to a front tire consistent with striking a curb.

■ Edwardo V. Vega, 30, of 310 River Drive, Hadley, was arrested Saturday at 6:02 p.m. in the Stop & Shop Supermarket parking lot on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the shoulders and held her against the building during an argument.

■ Andrea A. Hernandez, 22, and Casey J. Malone, 24, both of 30 Butler Place, were both arrested Saturday at 3:56 p.m. at Big Y Supermarket on charges of shoplifting by concealing merchandise after they allegedly put a bottle of tequila worth $58.99 in a canvas bag worth $4.99 and left the store. Hernandez was also arrested on a warrant out of Northampton District Court for failing to appear for probation.

■ Police received a report Saturday at 1:21 p.m. of a past shoplifting in which $436 worth of electric toothbrushes were allegedly taken from Wal-Mart.

■ Police received a report Saturday at 12:08 p.m. that a woman allegedly shoplifted $41.31 worth of groceries from Stop & Shop Supermarket by moving items through the self-checkout without paying.

■ Marcial R. Napoles, 55, of 187 West St., Hatfield, was arrested Saturday at 1:48 a.m. on King Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failing to stop after he allegedly turned right on a red light where there was a “no turn on red” sign.

■ Jenna P. Sasso-Florence, 31, of 40 Graves Ave., was arrested at her home Friday at 10:27 p.m. on a charge of domestic assault and battery after allegedly punching her husband in the face while he was sleeping.

■ Tyler M. Lantaigne, 27, of East Longmeadow, was arrested Friday at 8:12 p.m. on the Norwottuck Rail Trail off King Street on a shoplifting charge after allegedly taking a basket of food worth $38.75 from Stop & Shop Supermarket.

■ Police received a report Friday at 1:37 p.m. of a past shoplifting in which $58 worth of Monster Energy Drinks were allegedly taken from Wal-Mart.
