Daniel Orzol of Chicopee charged in South Hadley house break, assault

SOUTH HADLEY — Police arrested a Chicopee man on breaking and entering and other charges Sept. 12 after he allegedly broke into a Willimansett Street residence, stole jewelry and assaulted a man in the house.

Daniel Walter Orzol, 30, of Chicopee, was arrested about 7 p.m. while attempting to hide behind the Jiffy Lube at 2017 Memorial Drive in Chicopee, according to South Hadley Police Lt. Steve Parentela.

He pleaded not guilty Sept. 13 in Eastern Hampshire District Court to felony daytime breaking and entering, assault and battery with injury on an individual over 60 and larceny over $250 from an individual over 60.

Parentela said the 77-year-old resident of Willimansett Street, who was not identified by police, returned home to find items at his house in disarray. He then heard noises above him before being confronted by a man leaving the attic who said “Don’t do anything,” and allegedly knocked the victim to the ground before fleeing, according to Parentela. The victim did not require hospital treatment, Parentela said.

Parentela said the house was locked but Orzol forced his way inside.

South Hadley police received a 911 call from the victim at 6:43 p.m., and because the incident was near the Chicopee line, contacted police there to aid in the search. The victim gave a description of the suspect, and Chicopee police said they had seen him near the South Hadley line around an hour before the reported housebreak, Parentela said.

When police from both departments found Orzol near Jiffy Lube, the victim was brought there to identify him. Orzol had a ring and a bag of loose change allegedly belonging to the victim, Parentela said.

Orzol is due back in court Oct. 4.

FINALLY!!!!! What this rat bastard needs is to be locked in a room with all the people he stole from and try to weasle his way out. Guess it makes you feel like a real badass robbing a 70 yr old defenseless man.Sooner than later you will try to rob again and I personally hope you get to deal with someone who isn't old and won't give you a chance to leave in one piece. Congrats to the victim for nailing this piece of garbage. Now it is in the hands of the courts. Let's not drop the ball again justice system.............................
