Suspect sought in connection with alleged knifepoint robbery in Northampton
NORTHAMPTON — Police are looking for a suspect in an alleged robbery at knifepoint Wednesday night.
According to Northampton Police Capt. Scott A. Savino, a man reported he was approached about 10:30 p.m. on Barrett Street by another man carrying a silver pocketknife who demanded whatever the alleged victim was carrying.
Police said the alleged victim reported his wallet was taken with an undisclosed amount of cash inside.
The suspect is described as a black man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a red hat, red sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.
Police said the suspect ran toward Hampton Gardens Drive. Police, with the assistance of a state police canine unit, were unable to find him.
Savino said this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public.
